One More Caravan In Defence of the Unborn

Members and Volunteers leading a Rosary Rally in Limerick City

Members and volunteers of Irish Society for Christian Civilisation (ISFCC) have conducted another caravan in defence of the unborn this past week.

Beginning with campaigns in Carlow and Thurles, the volunteers moved south, covering various areas in County Cork such as Cork City, Bantry and Bandon. With these completed, campaigns took place in Limerick, Cahir, Cashel and Kilkenny.

The campaigns varied in style. In smaller towns, the caravanistas went shop-to-shop, not remaining at a fixed point. In Bantry, Bandon, Limerick and Kilkenny, volunteers joined locals in Rosary rallies with a statue of Our Lady of Fatima making reparation for abortion.

In Kilkenny, around 20 locals joined the group in prayer. Nevertheless, two men spat at a volunteer’s feet during the campaign.

Our Lady as the General

In Bandon, whilst the Rosary Rally took place, one volunteer gave out leaflets to passers-by. One lady indignantly hit him in the face. After fleeing, she came back for “round two” as the volunteer reported, soaking him with water.

Storm at a University

On Tuesday, the group campaigned outside of the College Gates of University College Cork (UCC). This campaign lasted little over an hour, but had a great impact on the public.

One student was enthused with the cause, and one volunteer asked him about starting a pro-life movement at the University. Sadly, he feared that he would be expelled if he dared attempt such an action, adding that there is no freedom of speech there.

An older couple asked if the group is also against homosexual sin. After one volunteer replied affirmatively, the couple supported the idea that Ireland should “stay Catholic”.

Conversely, there were many interactions with pro-abortionists. Especially towards the end, the group engaged in lively discussions with multiple students at the same time.

Whilst sexual and Marxist revolutionaries are given free rein, pro-life students receive the message that their “rhetoric” is not acceptable. (Original edited to censor the name and QR code of a communist organisation)

These effects were not limited to the campaign itself. Within a few hours, two angry emails flooded ISFCC’s enquiries. The next day, the University’s Student Union’s (UCC SU) President Eleanor McCahill responded to the campaign in an Instagram and Facebook post. McCahill made it clear that UCC SU does not agree with the “rhetoric” ISFCC volunteers were using. She further listed “supports” for students, in light of the campaign. Curiously, she included the University’s LGBTQ society as one support.

Despite censuring anti-abortion “rhetoric”, UCC SU seems to have no problem with listing the Connolly Youth Society (CYS) as an official society on the university’s website. CYS is an openly communist organisation, which shamelessly includes the tyrant Lenin in their internet propaganda.

The next day, the group set up beside the Food Science Building. The campaign attracted much opposition and debate. Two pro-abortion students even began handing out leaflets on access to abortion. Bizarrely, these were offered to ISFCC volunteers, even though the leaflets had no actual arguments in them.

With a growing clash between the two sides, members of An Garda Síochána asked both pro-lifers and pro-abortionists to disperse.

Shortly after the campaign, the University’s Feminist Society and Bród Society published a video to combat so-called “misinformation” disseminated by “anti-queer and anti-choice rhetoric” around the campus.

“Not even one knee before Baal”

Though a smaller crew than the recent summer caravan, Our Lady no doubt produced wondrous effects through this caravan.

The Rosary rallies showed the public that the Faith of old is still alive. ISFCC’s campaigns by UCC and the subsequent response of UCC SU show the Revolutionary1 totalitarianism plaguing education. Whilst sexual and Marxist revolutionaries are given free rein, pro-life students receive the message that their “rhetoric” is not acceptable.

Whatever the present crisis may be, ISFCC volunteers showed that notwithstanding opposition, good Catholics can still stand up to the decadent culture, not bending “even one knee before Baal”.

This year, it is more crucial than ever that we turn to prayer and intercession to increase devotion to Our Lady across our country. That’s why you’re invited to join us in the Three Hail Marys Pledge, a powerful devotion that can bring personal spiritual benefits and national transformation. By reciting three Hail Marys daily, you honour the Immaculate Heart of Mary and seek her intercession for the conversion of sinners, the salvation of souls and the restoration of Ireland’s Catholic Faith. This ancient devotion, revealed to Saint Mechtilde, promises spiritual benefits including protection from mortal sin and the assurance of a good death. Your daily prayers will contribute to an increase in devotion to Our Lady, the conversion of sinners and the moral renewal of our country. Let us commit to this powerful devotion and seek the guidance and protection of Our Lady.
