Caravan Against Transgender Ideology in Ireland

By Simeon Coffey

The immorality resulting from the sexual revolution of the 1960s has become so widely accepted today that it is even being taught in our schools. Children as young as nine years old are being taught that they can “change” their sex in their schools. Laws have been passed allowing these unfortunate people to become further convinced that their confused state is who they “truly are”. The truth is that no amount of clothing, make-up, or surgeries will change the thirty trillion cells which define a person as male or female. This is unchangeable and to try to change this goes against Divine Law, Natural Law, and reason.

Being male or female is such basic science that in normal circumstances, the transgender ideology would be universally opposed. Sadly, this is not the case. Rainbow flags can be seen on almost every street, on every block, and even in government buildings. Hardly anyone stands up and dares oppose these symbols of evil, even faithful Catholics.

Public sins such as these horrors require public reparation. This is why volunteers from Irish Society for Christian Civilisation took a public stand against transgender ideology in their 2023 summer caravan.

A caravan is a series of campaigns against or in support of a certain issue. Each member has a different function when on campaign. Some play in the band, others hand out leaflets, while others hold the TFP’s gold and red standard.

The leaflet distributed in this caravan was entitled “10 Reasons Why Transgenderism is the Family’s Worst Enemy”. The participants in the campaign always began and ended by loudly praying a Hail Mary, followed by proclaiming our war cry: “Tradition, Family, Property! 3x, Ireland! 3x”. This way we appeal to heaven for assistance and remind ourselves that is our fight is principled, not personal. It is also for this reason that we never insult another person in a debate, even if they are insulting us.

Street campaigns always have interesting repercussions.[1] For example, on the first campaign of the caravan, a lady approached one of the young members and asked who we were. When she was told, she asked, “So you are the same group that was at the Dodgers protest in California?”[2] He responded “yes” and pointed out to her that one of our members had been at the protest. She was very happy and thanked us for everything we do.

Sometimes people responded negatively and even aggressively towards us. We had beer thrown on us, a milkshake thrown in our leaflet box, coffee thrown directly in a volunteer’s face, an egg smashed on someone’s head, and spat and cursed on every campaign.

On one occasion in Cork City, four or five people with “all-inclusive” rainbow flags came out and attempted to surround us. The flags were so overwhelmingly “inclusive”, that when a TFP member asked one of the counter-protesters who was holding the flag what one of the symbols meant, he had no clue. The best he could come up with was “inclusivity”. On one campaign on Grafton Street, Dublin, a man shoved a volunteer, and then violently kicked another. This encounter made it clear the LGBT lobby is not very inclusive and tolerant of other peoples’ views.

In one week and with only nine volunteers, we handed out approximately 10,400 leaflets against the transgender ideology. Locals also would join us from time to time to help distribute leaflets. One boy was only thirteen years old!

We know that the graces mediated by Our Lady on this caravan reach farther than we will ever know, and we know that no matter how much the odds seem against Her cause, in the end, Her Immaculate Heart will triumph.

[1] For this article, the word repercussion will be used to mean a time when the effects of the TFP’s campaigns have come to our knowledge. For example, a woman ripping up a flyer in front of us is a repercussion, as it is both a result of the campaign, and we know about it.

[2] The Dodgers protest here mentioned was another large campaign done by the American Society for the Defense of Tradition, Family & Property (TFP) in the United States against the Dodgers baseball team who invited a blasphemous group of homosexuals to their pre-game show.

The word hate and foul language are the only arguments that character in the blue shirt and others had to show. Of course, insults are not arguments. He was the one showing hatred. To love another is to want him to practice virtue. He needs to go back and read his catechism and then go to Confession. Why is the truth considered hatred? You would think the pro transgender movement could come up with something better than foul language, physical aggression and insults. Just from an intellectual level it is pathetic besides the other problems. May Our Lady bless the work you are doing.
